The Director of Community Engagement – Riverside (DCER) is responsible for ensuring strategic partnerships with community organizations and elected officials to further the mission of TrueCare in Riverside County. The DCER will effectively generate, oversee, and evaluate initiatives designed to engage the community and support strategic organizational goals. The DCER oversees TrueCare community initiatives, which include community programs, outreach efforts, community meetings, strategic partnerships, and governmental relations. The DCER is also instrumental in addressing the social determinants of health for our patients and is charged with ensuring a consistent presence in the community to increase awareness of TrueCare services as well as identify necessary resources to address the social determinants of health for TrueCare patients appropriately. The DCER maintains a proactive, creative leadership role in improving population health by providing access points for its continuum of care. The DCER will possess exceptional skills in community relations, establishing and maintaining systems, a creative entrepreneurial spirit, and enthusiasm for engaging a wide variety of community partners.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Collaborating with the Vice President, Government & Community Affairs, develop, implement, manage, and evaluate a strategic work plan focused on department objectives throughout the catchment area served by TrueCare’s Riverside County locations.
- Work with both internal and external stakeholders to develop new community programs that advance TrueCare's mission and elevate the organization’s community presence.
- Represent TrueCare in the community with partners, government agencies, and other stakeholders as requested/deemed appropriate while enhancing and promoting the image of TrueCare in a professional manner.
- Collaborate with the volunteer and internship staff to help provide placements at TrueCare’s Riverside County locations.
- Oversee department initiatives, which include community programs, outreach efforts, community meetings, strategic partnerships, and governmental affairs.
- Identify opportunities for new partnerships, evaluate strategic benefits, and work with relevant interest holders and TrueCare leaders to determine resource allocation.
- Build and manage relationships with elected officials and their staff from all political parties and all government levels that serve TrueCare’s Riverside clinics' catchment area. Educate them on our organization's exemplary work, the issues most important to our patients, changes in the healthcare landscape, and the areas where we need their support and leadership.
- Work with the Grants department to ensure comprehensive, compelling, and competitive grant applications to garner funding for the organization’s efforts and initiatives.
- Oversee the grant-funded work in the region to ensure that goals are met, funds are spent appropriately, and that timely and accurate grant reporting is submitted.
- Develop best practices to increase the retention and utilization of TrueCare services and an effective department model that demonstrates successful outcomes.
- Interact with Board members as needed at events and meetings as appropriate.
- Mentor staff and build cohesive teams within the department.
- Assess ongoing staff training needs and promote developmental TrueCare opportunities.
- Keep staff and community informed of the organization and promote TrueCare's mission and goals.
- Complete special assignments from the corporate executive team, including the CEO
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience in Health Services, Administration, Business Administration, Public Administration, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience supervising or managing with non-profit experience preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years’ work experience in healthcare, community engagement or other field relevant to and aligning with the essential functions noted above.
- Proficiency in MS Office software and the ability to design graphs, diagrams, and flow chart.
- Experience in and understanding of medically underserved populations within the healthcare environment.
- Experience with program development.
- Will be required to travel between TrueCare sites and other locations therefore a valid California Driver’s License, proof of auto liability insurance and a clean driving record are required.

The pay range for this role is $90,000 to $136,000 on an annual basis. If you are hired at TrueCare, your final base salary (within the pay range), will be determined based on factors such as education, knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members when determining any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
