The Clinical In-Basket Nurse engages in managing the electronic health records (EHR) system, particularly focusing on the “In-basket. Clinical In-Basket Nurse plays a crucial role in managing the flow of information within the TrueCare organization, helping to ensure that patients receive prompt, coordinated, and high-quality care.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Nursing Function: 90%- Managing Patient Communication: Reviewing, triaging, and responding to messages from patients, physicians and other healthcare team members. This includes reviewing patient concerns and making recommendations for follow-up care.
- Coordination of Care: Ensuring that any required task, such as lab results, imaging, and patient care follow-ups are properly addressed and coordinated. The nurse might function as a liaison between different healthcare providers.
- Clinical Decision Support: Applying clinical knowledge to help resolve issues within the In- basket. This may include giving clinical advice and/or answering patient inquiries.
- Data Entry and documentation: Ensuring that communications and care notes within the in basket are documented accurately using smart phrases in EPIC. Also, flagging important tasks to providers.
- Quality Assurance and compliance: Ensuring that all actions taken through the In-basket are compliant with healthcare regulation, organization policies and best practices in patient care.
- Monitor and report on the quality of the In-basket process, suggesting improvements for better patient care and operational efficiency.
- Message Triage and Management: Process messages that require clinical decisions, such as medication requests, follow up questions, or concerns from patients or other providers.
- Process Improvement: Finding opportunities to improve workflow, communication, and efficiency within the In-basket to enhance patient care delivery. Collaborate with other healthcare staff to improve the overall function and usability in the In-basket system.
- Contribute to quality improvement initiatives by finding areas for improvement and taking part in performance activities.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives within the healthcare facility to find areas for improvement and implement changes that enhance the quality of patient care.
- Adhering to organizational policies and procedures to ensure consistency in nursing practices and promotes a standardized approach to care.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) from ab accredited program.
- Graduated from an accredited California School of Professional Nursing.
- Two (2) to Three (3) years’ clinical nursing experience in an outpatient care setting or ambulatory care.
- Computer ability, particularly with Electronic Health/Medical Record systems and the Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook and Word.
- Current California State Board RN license.
- May be needed to travel between all TrueCare’ s sites and locations therefore California Driver’s License, proof of valid insurance and clean driving record needed.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
- Community clinic experience.
- Preferable bilingual
- EHR proficiency, familiar with EHR system and the In-Basket function.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, legal and technical aspects of a medical records system, and ICD-10 and CPT codes.

If you are hired at TrueCare, your final base salary (within the pay range), will be determined based on factors such as education, knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider the internal equity of our current team members when determining any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical to allow for future and continued salary growth.
