The Director of Marketing & Communications (DMC) is responsible for the development, implementation and management of internal and external marketing and promotions strategies patient-facing communications, and intentional activities designed to engage patients and the community, and support strategic organizational goals. The DMC is also responsible for creating and executing the annual marketing plan through a variety of digital and traditional marketing communications materials, including patient-facing educational/awareness initiatives and press releases. This includes collaborating closely with senior leadership and other departments, as well as managing media relations and outside agency resources.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Strategy, Planning, Execution
  • Develop, execute, and put into action the yearly marketing plan in alignment with TrueCare's strategic and operational business goals with the aim of improving the patient health experience and promoting new and growing services at the organization.
  • Develop and manage content that not only raises patient and community awareness but also positions TrueCare as a leader in delivering quality health outcomes. Planning intentional activities that contribute to strengthening our brand identity including, publishing articles, blog posts, and other materials that highlight our organization's dedication to providing the best possible care.
  • Collaborating with different teams to gather patient insights and data that strengthen the accuracy and credibility of our content.
  • Play a key role in building and maintaining our brand's positive image and reputation.
  • Create engaging online presence through thoughtful content development and strategic management, weaving together creativity and analytics to drive meaningful interactions on the website.
  • Develop promotional strategies and materials along with enticing invitations for engagement by seamlessly blending text, design, visuals, video, and other innovative components into both digital and print formats, all aimed at enhancing TrueCare's presence within its service regions. Oversee, develop and direct strategic initiatives that supports the TrueCare marketing plan, organizational goals and enrollment efforts.
  • Lead development and execution of external communications such as, but not limited to, the patient-facing newsletter, educational materials, blog, website, and other stakeholder materials.
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure that processes and systems are in place in order to successfully manage projects and achieve goals.
  • Coordinate and lead stakeholders in discussions and planning processes to yield project plans and strategies and recommendations.

Data Tracking & Analysis
  • Develop key metrics dashboards that include monitoring of strategic marketing, promotions, and community initiatives as well as visit, patient, and utilization trends. Define and measure ROI, KPIs and other performance measures.
  • Analyze and segment patient and visit data.
  • Translate data (empirical and other) into clear and compelling stories for internal and external use.
  • Interpret data to identify trends and develop recommendations and strategies to maintain and enhance TrueCare’s presence within its service regions.
  • Develop monthly and quarterly progress reports against goals of the annual marketing plan. 
  • Analyze market share data to understand competitive activity and implications for relevant marketing and promotions activity.
  • Work in close collaboration with stakeholders to identify areas of opportunity based on patient and community data and trends.

Public Relations
  • Strategically lead public relations efforts for the organization to consistently engage the community and grow market share.
  • Serve as media contact for TrueCare, proactively pitching news stories as well as managing crisis communication and responding to routine media inquiries for health-related stories.
  • Train and motivate key volunteers and interns to actively promote and endorse the services and success of TrueCare. 

Team Leadership / Project Management
  • Manage internal and external marketing / agency resources to support execution of marketing plan activities and achievement of organizational objectives.
  • Project development and management – establish and manage project plans.

Other Responsibilities
  • Lead all efforts relating to creation and publishing of TrueCare’s Annual Report and meeting event.
  • Oversee and participate in large scale events that support organizational goals and align with the TrueCare brand.
  • Maintain oversight of Marketing & Communications budgets and adhere to TrueCare policies.
  • Work with community leaders and other organizations to strengthen TrueCare’s presence, when applicable.
  • Collaborate with Executives, Lead Clinicians, Leadership members and HR to manage production and distribution of communication collateral.
  • Apply innovative strategies to remain cutting edge in utilizing the most appropriate and effective marketing and communication channels/mediums.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, business or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in marketing communications, preferably in the health care industry.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ management experience.
  • Demonstrated successful experience writing press releases, making presentations and negotiating with media.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Computer proficiency with web applications and Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint to create analytical reports and presentations.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism or business.
  • Knowledge of health care quality, managed care, the ACA, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), pharmacy, Clinical Integration.
  • Speak, read and write in Spanish a plus

The pay range for this role is $102,346 - $158,636 on an annual basis. In person at our Corporate office in San Marcos, California. Not a remote position.
